The Great Rebirth

Old family photos are a tangible thing that you can hold in your hand unlike the one’s in the cloud.

The unique thing about humans over the millennia is that by nature we are story tellers. From the beginning we recorded events in a visual way, such as cave drawings. As we evolved and began to use spoken tongue, our stories started to be passed along to the next generation. Then the written word was propagated by the invention of the printing press. Technology fueled the explosion of the written word in books and newsprint. The cultures of the world were propelled by a revolution of technology.

One of the greatest advancements came at the intersection of art and science with the invention of the camera and the photographic process. We now had the ability to capture real life images as opposed to drawings and paintings. Once again cultures propelled at a furious pace through the 1900’s, and technology is far from done advancing - even as we write today! That pace, however, accelerated at a cost. For decades, families recorded their journey with the photograph in print. The digital revolution - in some ways - steam rolled through with various stages of computers, cameras and camera card media. So many photo memories began to be stored in hard drives, smart phones, or in cloud apps. An entire generation of photos began to fade as there was a shift away from the print or the family album to a world stored on a Facebook server.

Avoid the wreck!

Back up, store and save your photos - and print the most precious ones.

Not all is doom and gloom! For every problem comes a solution. Running parallel to that runaway train is a worldwide enlightened awareness that made people realize that they were losing touch with the past. There is also a global concerted effort to make printing your digital files easier via the web. Add to that the large variety of products available that the masses can have their photos printed on.

Products like photobooks, Canvas and fine art prints as well as photo mugs and a wide variety of photo gifts. Transforming your old family photo albums into a digital format so they can be printed and stored as well is made easier with shoebox scanning. It goes to say that companies that invested in an online presence and those who created a online store to complement their bricks and mortar fared much better than those that did not evolve. Such transitions take years, and the evolving never stops. Spreading the message on preserving your precious memories and avoiding being cut by the cutting edge of technology never ends. What was old can be new and tradition can be re-learned in the rebirth.
