Leslie MacDonald: going the distance for dad

Leslie MacDonald, a friend of the Atlantic Photo Supply, departed Halifax June 2, for British Columbia and is about to embark on the trip of a lifetime. Leslie is biking from Vancouver, BC to Summerside, PEI in memory of her Dad who passed away in August of 2003 from ALS. Leslie hopes to raise $25,000 in support of research into ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Atlantic Photo Supply is helping Leslie in a number of ways over the ten weeks she expects to be on the road.  We will dedicate one of our front store widows to the trip and will have photographs of Leslie along the way, a large map tracking her progress as well as some important information explaining just what ALS is and what we all can do to help.

Additionally we gave Leslie a Flip video camera with which to record events along the way and hope that she will be able to post them through You Tube and Facebook for us all to see. We will soon start selling tickets on a video camera just like the one Leslie has here in the store and at the end of her trip someone will win that camera with all proceeds going to Leslie’s fund.

We hope to have Leslie as a guest on our blog from time to time as she updates us on the progress she is making on the long trip across this great country of ours.

Leslie’s trip has a special place in the hearts of all of us here – it wasn’t that long ago that one of the Atlantic Photo family lost a spouse to ALS so we are wishing Leslie all the best and God’s speed.

Check our front window from time to time over the next ten weeks or so if you’re downtown to see how Leslie is doing. Check out our website and our blog for regular updates too.

Atlantic Photo Supply has a long history of community involvement and support of local charities and event.  We also have worked with many of our clients who have worked long and hard on projects that have supported charities. From our involvement with Sue Siri and her calendar for the IWK, to Shari Tucker and her amazing Young and the Fearless in support of cancer awareness and research, to our involvement with the QEII Foundation the QEII Lotteries, this company has always felt a need to give back to the community that has supported us over the last 68 years.

If you would like to make a donation, go here, or check out Leslie's blog and to track her progress.
