It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
When I walked outside this morning I could feel a chill. I tightened my coat around me. Walking through the fallen leaves, I could almost smell winter coming.
Usually in November or December You can feel the snow coming. When that first snow flake falls, I feel something deep inside me jump. It's the little kid in me thinking about the holidays. Although Christmas is different when you are an adult. It is no longer the excitement of going to bed on Christmas Eve, seeing what Santa would bring. Now, that feeling is replaced with the excitement of doing wonderful things for the friends and family in your life.
Every year I struggle with what to buy. I wander around stores, waiting for ideas to jump out at me. I usually stick with tradition, and buy my husband, my grandmother, my sister, and my parents all a calendar. While I admit that sometimes there is a calendar that jumps out at me for each of them, often times there is not.
I thought that this year I would try something different. I thought I would try and make my own. When I first started working at Atlantic Photo I made a calendar through Fotosource. A new user, I had no idea what I was doing. My calendar looked a bit, clumsy. But every month I looked forward to flipping to the next month, and seeing a picture of my husband, my cat or my dog waiting for me.
With four very different people to make them for, I admit, it will be a challenge, but I know that I can put something together for each of them that they will love. With the options of putting multiple images in a collage for one month, having a faded image behind 3 other images, the control of colours, textures and borders, they will suit them perfectly. One of my favorite things, is that you can put someone's picture right on the date of their birthday or anniversary, not just a name.
I know that with a little effort from me, I will be able to bring a smile to their face as they flip over the calendar pages as each month passes. And what is better than making your family happy, and being together around the holidays?
